Deborah Goldstein

Professional Writer/Consultant

Deborah Goldstein

Originally from Chicago, I made Austin my home in the 1990s after accepting a public relations/marketing consultant contract for two related photographic industry businesses. During that time, I established strong media relationships, wrote and placed articles in industry trade publications, and created promotional brochures and newsletters for both companies. I also planned and organized a press conference which resulted in extensive editorial coverage.

Before moving to Austin, I spent five years on staff as an editor/writer for two national, glossy photography magazines. I also worked in the creative department of J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency and was an associate producer for an Ace-award winning cable talk show targeted to teens.

In addition to writing articles for a large variety of publications, I served as the Marketing Communications and Public Relations Manager for Zilliant, an enterprise pricing and optimization software firm. I was also the Marketing and Product Acquisitions Manager for the Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation Consumer Products Division, where I handled a variety of projects -- from developing business and communications plans to identifying product sources and negotiating agreements for private labeling/licensing. I also managed creative teams and produced collateral for promotional campaigns, advertisements, special events, packaging and conferences.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Journalism, and specialize in writing feature articles, brochure copy, newsletters, ads, press releases, and other marketing material. I also consult with clients on marketing strategy.
